FAQ

If an inaccurate weight or class is used and a shipment is reweighed or re-classed by the carrier, those costs will be passed on to you. Reweighing may also delay delivery.

Transit times are guaranteed only if noted as such on the carrier options list returned for your quote. All other transit times are reliable, but not guaranteed. Transit times do not include the day of pickup.

Yes, but this service cannot always be guaranteed due to our agent’s capacity. Please allow a 4-hour window before your docks close so that we can get a driver dispatched to your location that same day.

This is a numeric indicator that specifically identifies each type of product that can be shipped by a LTL carrier. The National Motor Freight Association presets these product classifications quarterly. It is always helpful to have the NMFC number on the Bill of Lading in order to avoid re-classification and accurately identify each product you ship. You can contact freightdynamics.com at 800.883-8777 to better determine the precise NMFC number for your products.

We define a business as a location that opens and closes to the general public at set times each day. You may be considered a residence if you are located in a residential zone, even if you open and close at set times. Schools, colleges, and churches located in residential zones may also incur residential fees. If the driver is required to go inside (beyond the front door or loading dock) to pickup or deliver a load instead of remaining on the dock or in his truck, additional fees may be applied.

When the shipping or receiving address does not have a loading dock, manual loading or unloading is necessary. A liftgate is a platform at the back of the truck that can raise and lower a shipment from the ground to the truck. Additional fees apply for this service.

Dimensional weight is a standard formula used throughout the freight industry that considers a package’s density when determining charges. Transportation charges are based on the gross weight of the shipment or the dimensional weight of the shipment; whichever is greater. Simply put, dimensional weight is when the weight of a package is inappropriately less than the actual size of the package. For example, a box filled with inflated balloons. Formula to determine if your shipment is dimensional:

Domestic shipments: HxWxL/194 = Dim weight.
International shipments: HxWxL/166 =Dim weight.

When the actual weight of a package is less than the calculated dimensional weight, carriers charge by the dimensional weight.

LTL stands for Less Than Load. A typical LTL shipment ranges from 100 lbs. to 20,000 lbs. For larger loads, you may need TL (truckload) service. Our customer service department can help determine which option you need.

P.O.D. – Proof of Delivery. Term used to describe the delivery receipt identifying who signed for the freight, plus the date and time freight was received.

Terminals are freight drop off and pick up locations, usually located in close proximity to major international airports. Usually, Freight companies as forwarding and receiving points for their shipments use freight terminals. Terminal freight shipping is a lot cheaper then door-to-door shipping. It is our pleasure to be able to offer our customers an option of shipping from a terminal, or to a terminal.

When the pick-up or deliver to location does not have a loading dock, manual loading or unloading is required. A liftgate is a platform at the back of certain trucks that can raise and lower the product from the ground to the truck. Liftgate service is always used on freight exceeding 151 lbs in weight if a loading dock is not available. If freight weight exceeds 151 lbs and loading dock is not available at pick-up and/or drop-off locations, a liftgate service must be ordered at the time your shipment is processed with Freight Dynamics.

You can either call our customer service department @ 800-883-8777 or check the “Forgot Password” box on our home page and it will request your email and email the user name and password to you.

A shipment label is created by the system for every shipment. A shipment is defined as 1 or more boxes, crates, pallets, etc. shipped under a single tracking number. The shipping Label displays the shipment tracking number, shipper and origin location information, consignee and destination information, freight / shipment description. A shipment label should be printed and taped on to the side of each piece – crate, pallet, box, etc. in the shipment. For example: If the shipment has 10 separate pallets, please print 10 shipping labels and tape a shipping label on each piece.

Most commonly, the driver will not wait. The driver will be dispatched for the following day, which delays your service. You will be assessed a fee if the carrier charges Freight Dynamics for the duplicated pickup.
